Artist's Comments

The next challenge is about commercialization and fashion appeal. (Thank you CJROGERS1993 for the challenge idea) Your challenge is to create two looks, one day and night, sharing a theme and are very sellable and marketable.

----

For my theme, I chose Islamic art

For the day outfit:
Shrug/Bolero thing is black cotton knit (not a personal fan of cashmere) with gold grograin piping and jeweling details. Closure on inside front panel.
Pants are slim cut (not quite skinny) black jeans.
Dress is red cotton with embroidery stitching.
Necklace is a gold alloy with green gemstone eyes and drop.
Shoes are black d'orsay pumps with 1" kitten heel.

For the night outfit:
The fabric is a dark navy taffeta, with gold/cream embroidery.
The veil is a thin light cream chiffon with gold silk ribbon (the middle sketch is most accurate), and is attached to the dress at the shoulders.
The gold buttons on the shoulders continue down the back (so there are eight of them total)

[EDIT] Judge's Reviews
"I loved the colors and the prints you used! That vest kicks all ass and goes well with the rest of your day look. Indeed you had a simple tube under it, but that's okay because it was adorned with the graphic print. The judges were dubious about the hood and its cohesion with the rest of the nightgown, and one questioned its sellability to a normal citygirl. Still, stunning showing once again."

Woah i really like this a lot. It is really sellable yet really cool and nice. I would definitely wear this (if I had the figure for skinny jeans!! New Years resolution number one....) The eastern culture definitely shows in the pattern of the top and its beautiful dark terracotta type . I think this is a strong design and i look forward to seeing the evening wear

How do you measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee?

I think that it is amazing...You've really outdone yourself. You are very good with prints. It is nice to see someone use such an idea...It is simple, wearable, yet HIGHLY fashionable. I can't wait to see the night portion of this...Great job! :D

Actually *black* skinny jeans are pretty flattering. And these aren't *skinny* skinny jeans, just slim cut. I hate wearing any kind of remotely unflattering pants, but I have this pair of black extremely skinny pants and I love them.

And thanks!

...maybe add a belt to cinch the waist? :?

I have always tried to design things that are unapologetically beautiful, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If I can inspire an appreciation for grace and elegance, that would be the ultimate fulfillment of my life's ambition.

This is a great concept,

just the silhouette, although cool, is a bit basic because the top is mainly a tube.

add detailing or interest up the silhouette, because this is cool so far.

SWISS RAVE! EVERYBODY DANCE!

Riddle me this!
:iconmadstar:
hmm, if it was anything but like, a solid black, it would probably be too busy. Plus, a straight line across would interrupt the design. I'm thinking about adding a jacket or shrug of some kind, thoughts?

I -love- that daywear look, plus its very sellable! The colours of the dress is great, maybe its just me but I kinda don't like the cut of the top... *meep* but other than that its very lovely!
:iconcjrogers1993:
I think a shrug would be nice...but because I like busy designs I would mind too much...but it was just a thought.
